Gusties Support Special Olympics Minnesota

Dozens of Gustavus Adolphus College students turned out for two events on Feb. 11-12 to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Gusties helped to raise more than $3,000 by participating in the Polar Plunge at Lake Hallett.

Carla Shutrop ’09: A Young Civic Leader

At just 25 years of age, Gustavus alumna Carla Shutrop is making her life count by serving on the school board in her hometown of Shakopee. In the middle of her first four-year term, Shutrop has been elected chair of the board by her peers.

Rev. Carl O. Nelson Receives the Gustavus Medal

Reverend Carl O. Nelson became the first recipient of the Gustavus Medal when the honor was bestowed upon him by President Jack R. Ohle during a ceremony in late December.

Language Buddies Program Bridges a Gap

After only a year at Gustavus Adolphus College, Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies Program Director Angelique Dwyer has founded an influential program that is aimed at bridging the gap between the Latino community of St. Peter and the College.
