Steve Wilkinson: Tennis and Life

For the past 40 years at Gustavus, the name “Wilkinson” has been synonymous with “tennis.” Steve Wilkinson that is. Wilkinson's achieved the status of winningest coach in men's tennis collegiate history with his team's overall record of 929-279 (.768) and a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) mark of 334-1 (.997). He is also the founder of the Tennis and Life Camps (TLC)—the largest tennis camp in one location in the country.

Making the Most of Summer Months

With class recess during the months of June, July, and August, most Gustavus students pack up and head home. For some Gustavus students, however, summer provides a three-month opportunity to conduct research or work on an independent, academic project with professors. Participants in research this past summer talk about their experiences.

High Goals, High Success

It might look like a typical camp: high school students spending a week on campus, trying out the dorms, getting a taste of what college might be like, and honing a skill. But that’s where the similarities stop. While most camps are based in athletics, music, or faith, Gustavus has a unique offering—speech camp.
